New Zebra TC501 and TC701 terminals

Zebra Technologies introduces the new TC501 and TC701 mobile computers, which succeed the TC53/TC58 and TC73/TC78 models and represent the next generation of industrial mobile devices for retail, logistics, manufacturing, and field services. Both devices are built on a unified hardware platform and focus on high performance, long service life, and support for modern AI technologies.

Zebra TC501 and TC701 mobile terminalsKey technical innovation

  • Qualcomm QCS6690 octa-core processor
Two processor variants are available, clocked at 2.0 GHz and 2.9 GHz, with up to 12 GB of RAM, suitable even for demanding AI and computer vision applications.
  • 6" Hybrid OLED Full HD+ display
The first use of this type of display in the category of industrial mobile terminals. It offers up to 1500 nits, a variable refresh rate, and lower power consumption compared to traditional LCD displays.
  • Android operating system 15–19
Devices are launched with Android 15 and have guaranteed future support up to Android 19. Android Enterprise Recommended certification is included as standard.
  • Integrated UHF RFID
The UHF RFID reader is a standard feature in all WLAN and WWAN configurations, without the need to purchase an external RFID module.
  • Advanced barcode data capture system
A choice of several scanning modules is available, including the new AC670 long-range engine. A 50 MP rear camera is also included in all configurations.
  • Support for object dimensioning
Selected models equipped with a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor enable parcel dimensioning in the range of 10–120 cm, including irregularly shaped items.
  • Advanced wireless connectivity
Support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and 5G Release 17 (on WAN models).
  • Hot-swap batteries in all configurations
Batteries can be replaced without powering down the device. Available battery capacities are 5000 mAh (standard) and 7240 mAh (extended).
  • Long-term product support
The product lifecycle of the TC501 and TC701 terminals is planned through 2036.

Difference between TC501 and TC701

The main difference is the level of ruggedness:

  • TC501 – a robust device designed for demanding industrial and logistics environments
  • TC701 – an ultra-rugged variant with higher resistance to drops and impacts, without the need for a protective boot

Both models are available in the following variants:

  • WLAN (Wi-Fi only)
  • WWAN (Wi-Fi + 5G)

New Zebra device naming strategy

With the introduction of the TC501 and TC701, Zebra is also launching a new product naming system that applies to newly introduced devices in its core hardware portfolio.

Key principles of the new strategy

  • Unified device name structure
    category → series → generation → variant
  • Removal of technical details from the model name (e.g. WLAN / WWAN)
→ this information is now handled at the P/N (SKU) level, not in the device name
  • Variants used as suffixes indicate only significant differences between models
    (e.g. “-R” for integrated RFID)
