Custom Configuration of Memory Scanners
Although Zebra's Symbol MT2070 and MT2090 scanners are standard Windows CE devices, getting them to a usable state requires some special procedures.
The custom configuration service will take into account your specific requirements, which may include:
- Removing the automatic start of the default factory application.
- Installing custom application that automatically starts whenever the reader is restarted
- Activation of the pre-installed MCL client
- Setting device parameters (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, power management, etc.)
Similar to mobile terminals, universal self-installation packages can be prepared for MT2000 series scanners for easy deployment via Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center (ActiveSync) or using barcodes, FTP server and pre-installed Rapid Deployment Client ( MT2090 only).
Application development for Zebra/Symbol MT2000 Series
If you want to take full advantage of the capabilities of Zebra's Symbol MT2070 and MT2090 scanners, you can have a custom application created.
Application examples
- Batch inventory or receiving and shipping of goods: the operator reads the barcodes of the goods and enters the quantity from the keyboard
- Printing shelf labels on a mobile printer
- Batch keyboard scanner: barcodes are read into memory, then the scanner is connected via keyboard or USB interface to a PC and transferred as if the user had entered them from the keyboard
Due to the nature of the scanner, these are usually less complex applications. For more demanding tasks it is more appropriate to use mobile terminals.
MCL-Collection for Motorola MT2000 is used to develop applications for the MT2000 series scanners. This is a RAD (Rapid Application Development) tool. The main advantage is the speed of application development. On the MT2070 scanners, the MCL code interpreter is pre-licensed, i.e. the user has no additional expenses except for the cost of the actual front-end application.
Free "Easy Inventory" application for Zebra/Symbol MT2000 Scanners
Download and install the free fully functional Easy Inventory app for MT2070 and MT2090. This app allows you to:
- Scan barcodes up to 26 characters long and enter quantities. The data is stored in the internal memory of the scanner.
- View previously collected data
- Transfer a data file via USB using the MCL Link Lite for MT2000 application
- Delete data
How to install Easy Inventory into MT2000:
- Connect the MT2000 (preferably in factory settings) to the PC via USB (STB2000-C10007R base or USB cable CBA-U01-S07ZAR), making sure that the ActiveSync connection is properly established (if not, set 5-Config, 6-Configure USB in Navigator and select ActiveSync). When using a USB cable, make sure that the MT2000 has a fully charged battery.
- Unzip Easy-Inventory-MT2000-en.zip on the PC and run Setup.bat on it.
- This will load the necessary files from the PC to the MT2000 and then the MT2000 will reboot.
- After the reboot, the Easy Inventory application will start automatically.

How to uninstall Easy Inventory from MT2000:
- Connect the MT2000 to the PC via USB (STB2000 base or USB cable), making sure the ActiveSync connection is properly established. When using a USB cable, make sure that the battery in the MT2000 is fully charged.
- Extract the Default-MT2000.zip on the PC and run Setup.bat on it.
- This will load the necessary files from the PC to the MT2000 and then the MT2000 will reboot.
- After reboot, the standard Navigator.exe application will be launched.
